Professional Help

When experiencing a mental health crisis, or simply struggling with mental health, it's always best to seek professional help in order to further understand how you're feeling and how you can cope with or stop these feelings. Professional help involves seeing a therapist or psychiatrist.

Wherever you are in the world, there will be a place you can contact for professional help. In the UK, going to a GP can be the first step in getting treatment. Your GP may refer you to a free mental health service in the NHS. You may also be referred if you contact a suicide hotline or mental health charity, check the Suicide Hotlines and Charities pages to find them.

In some areas of the world, visiting or contacting emergency services is an option. They can be admitted to a psychiatrist or to a mental health ward. Emergency services can include A&E or calling your countries emergency hotline.
